JULY

  • July 31 – August 28: BlackFood.org Summer Movie Series: "Let’s get together and feel all right". With partial funding from the CableCares Foundation BlackFood.org will be hosting FREE movie nights in the Englerston communitiy during the summer months. Showtime: 8pm. When: Every Saturday.   • July 12 – 23: Stubsdale Dog Care Center: 3rd Annual Junior’s Dog Training Camp. Jr.’s Dog Training Camp is a summer camp for children and their dogs.  Children between the ages of eight (8) and seven-teen (17) are welcome to attend. Dogs must be between 6 months and 9 years old. By establishing responsible care taking for their animals Stubsdale Dog Care Center hopes campers would become lifelong devout and caring dog owners, thus ridding the country of the number of strays on the streets and in the pound.  Cost: $100.00. If you don’t have a dog, one can be provided for you at no additional cost. 
     
  • July 24 -25: Olive Senior Guest Writer and Lecture. July 24th at 7pm @ Bahamas Tourism Training Center Lecture Theatre. Writing and Politics of Imagination in Small Places: A Caribbean Perspective. July 25th at 5pm @ Popopstudios (26 Dunmore Ave, Chippingham) Caribbean Voices: A Reading.   • July 12 – 29: Bahamas Writers Summer Institute 2010. Get ready to explore what it means to be a writer with five published Bahamian writers. Learn the craft of writing in conjunction with theories about how and why they write, from a Caribbean perspective. 4pm – 9pm; Tuesdays – Fridays. $400 for the cost of the program which includes the cost of reading materials. Join hosts, The Indaba Project, Kindred Souls & SEEDlings’ Place on Fri. Aug. 6 – Sun. Aug 8th for a weekend of hope & healing with renowned holistic healer and health adovcate, Queen Afua, bestselling author of "Heal… Thyself for Health and Longevity", and "Sacred Woman: The Guide to Healing the Feminine Body, Mind and Spirit".
